BOLOGNA HOSTS THE FIRST VERMOUTH SHOW: AN IMMERSION IN THE WORLD OF AROMATISED WINE BORN IN TURIN IN 1786

The first edition of the Salone del Vermouth lands in Bologna on October 6, 2024, from 10 am to 9 pm, with a week of Fuori Salone events from September 30 to October 5 that will prepare the city to experience a unique celebration of this excellent product.

The capital of Emilia will become the nerve center of vermouth culture for two days. The event will involve small and large producers who will bring their stories, traditions and innovations in a context rich in events, tastings and workshops open to all.

How it works

ON OCTOBER 6TH, THE SOCIAL HUB BOLOGNA WILL HOST A DAY DEDICATED TO THE ART OF VERMOUTH

The event aims to introduce the public not only to the origins of this aromatized wine, but also to its connection with the history of the aperitif and contemporary cuisine. Through interactive workshops and meetings with producers, participants will be able to discover the various facets of vermouth, learning the secrets of mixing and food pairing.

THE VERMOUTH SHOW IN BOLOGNA WILL GIVE A VOICE TO PRODUCERS, FROM LOCAL TO INTERNATIONAL

The beating heart of the event will be represented by the exhibitors, who will have the task of telling the many variations of vermouth, from the most classic versions to the most experimental ones. The public will have the opportunity to explore innovative interpretations, with unusual ingredients and production methods that make each bottle unique. A sensory journey that crosses tradition and modernity, in a city that is a symbol of Italian culinary art.

With the patronage of the Piedmont Region and the City of Turin, the Salone del Vermouth will be held at the Museo Nazionale del Risorgimento Italiano. 21 producers will present pure and mixed vermouth. Meetings with experts, interactive mixing and tasting workshops. Insights into the aperitif, its use in cooking and the stories of the producers.

“I like the history of vermouth. My bread is its production” declares Fulvio Piccinino, a master in terms of product knowledge. A dialogue around the protagonist of the Salone, starting from the protected geographical indication in aromatized wines.

Thanks to the presence in the room of the publisher of Fulvio Piccinino's book "Il Vermouth di Torino. Storia e produzione del più famosi vino aromatizzato", after the talk it will be possible to buy the book. A moment for the signing of copies is planned.

Starting from roles and their meaning: Master Herbalist & Master Blender. From the sensorial analysis of the botanicals that make up vermouth. Up to the human side of the big brands.

Meeting with a mixed drink interpreter, which tell how to work vermouth into a drink, with the presence of a chef, who addresses the topic of pairing in the kitchen with drinks.
